The prime purpose of any website is to increase the sale of the company. There are several factors that influence the success of a website. Besides the utility it is the systematic layout that plays a crucial part in business life of a website. Man y websites need to have illustration. This illustration is usually in the form of a photo.
Art work does not only refer to the photo or the illustration but also the total layout of the website. The layout art work may consist of rough sketches and photographs. The artwork also involves the background color. The art work also relates to the font in which the write up is written. The color combination should be such that everything seems to be in perfect balance; moreover everything should go along with the main theme or purpose of the website.
Usually a site dealing with nature has a slight greenish or bluish background or shade. The artwork at web applications does not only mean that the web designer should be good at drawing.
The art work should be such that the illustrations, images, font and color of write up is in perfect tandem.
The color combination should be such that the artwork consumes least of bytes. More the number of bytes the more is the time required for the picture to be downloaded.
The website with all its features and facilities should be pleasing for the eyes. The page should not look congested.
The requirements of the website company needs to be studied, the facilities that have to be provided ascertained and finally the navigation links have to be decided and placed properly conforming the layout. If the navigation links are haphazardly arranged the website can never be customer friendly and it is going to violate the basic purpose of its existence. Usually the navigation links are arranged on the periphery with their color contrasting with the background.
On the other hand the art work with a lot of bright colors can cause unnecessary stress for the viewer. The art work for the write up should be in contrast with the background so that its visibility is not impaired.
Most of the art work nowadays especially with reference to images is downloaded in JPG format because most of the servers support the images stored in this format. The other most common format is or GIF.
The artwork should not be that bulky as to outweigh the main purpose of the website.
